Earthrise
96 × 96 studs (77 × 77 cm) · 9 216 studs of color · parts ≈ €233
About this build
Earthrise rebuilt in bricks measures 96 × 96 studs — 77 × 77 cm once it is on the wall — and takes 1 983 plates. Each stud is one pixel of the original, and nothing is painted or printed: the colour you see is the colour of the plate underneath it.
The engine matched the artwork to 14 of the LEGO® colours we can actually buy. Black does the most work at 32% of the surface — 643 plates on its own, followed by Light Gray (22%), Dark Bluish Gray (19%). That distribution is the fingerprint of this particular image: a portrait leans on skin tones, a night sky spends almost everything on two or three darks.
Buying the plates for this one costs roughly €233 at current second-hand prices, spread across 14 colours. That is the part most people do not expect, and it is why the instructions and the sourcing list are what we sell: the bricks you buy where they are cheapest, or take from what you already own.
