Hiroshige Rain
96 × 150 studs (77 × 120 cm) · 14 400 studs of color · parts ≈ €770
About this build
Hiroshige Rain rebuilt in bricks measures 96 × 150 studs — 77 × 120 cm once it is on the wall — and takes 9 332 plates. Each stud is one pixel of the original, and nothing is painted or printed: the colour you see is the colour of the plate underneath it.
The engine matched the artwork to 23 of the LEGO® colours we can actually buy. Dark Bluish Gray does the most work at 21% of the surface — 1 914 plates on its own, followed by Light Gray (19%), Pearl Titanium (12%). That distribution is the fingerprint of this particular image: a portrait leans on skin tones, a night sky spends almost everything on two or three darks.
Buying the plates for this one costs roughly €770 at current second-hand prices, spread across 23 colours. That is the part most people do not expect, and it is why the instructions and the sourcing list are what we sell: the bricks you buy where they are cheapest, or take from what you already own.
