Lincoln rebuilt in bricks measures 96 × 124 studs — 77 × 99 cm once it is on the wall — and takes 4 592 plates. Each stud is one pixel of the original, and nothing is painted or printed: the colour you see is the colour of the plate underneath it.
The engine matched the artwork to 8 of the LEGO® colours we can actually buy. Pearl Titanium does the most work at 26% of the surface — 1 191 plates on its own, followed by Flat Silver (21%), Dark Bluish Gray (18%). That distribution is the fingerprint of this particular image: a portrait leans on skin tones, a night sky spends almost everything on two or three darks.
