About this build

Jupiter Spot rebuilt in bricks measures 96 × 96 studs — 77 × 77 cm once it is on the wall — and takes 3 365 plates. Each stud is one pixel of the original, and nothing is painted or printed: the colour you see is the colour of the plate underneath it.

The engine matched the artwork to 24 of the LEGO® colours we can actually buy. Dark Tan does the most work at 16% of the surface — 526 plates on its own, followed by Dark Bluish Gray (14%), Black (14%). That distribution is the fingerprint of this particular image: a portrait leans on skin tones, a night sky spends almost everything on two or three darks.

Buying the plates for this one costs roughly €298 at current second-hand prices, spread across 24 colours. That is the part most people do not expect, and it is why the instructions and the sourcing list are what we sell: the bricks you buy where they are cheapest, or take from what you already own.
