Mondrian Rby
96 × 97 studs (77 × 78 cm) · 9 312 studs of color · parts ≈ €323
About this build
Mondrian Rby rebuilt in bricks measures 96 × 97 studs — 77 × 78 cm once it is on the wall — and takes 1 597 plates. Each stud is one pixel of the original, and nothing is painted or printed: the colour you see is the colour of the plate underneath it.
The engine matched the artwork to 25 of the LEGO® colours we can actually buy. Red does the most work at 28% of the surface — 440 plates on its own, followed by Chrome Silver (20%), Pearl Titanium (9%). That distribution is the fingerprint of this particular image: a portrait leans on skin tones, a night sky spends almost everything on two or three darks.
Buying the plates for this one costs roughly €323 at current second-hand prices, spread across 25 colours. That is the part most people do not expect, and it is why the instructions and the sourcing list are what we sell: the bricks you buy where they are cheapest, or take from what you already own.
